From indie rock to pop mega-stars, there’s something for just about everybody this week in new music releases. Here’s the rundown on this week’s top five most noteworthy album releases.

Band of Horses: ‘Why Are You OK’

This Seattle indie rock band changed their sound a bit for their newest LP, adding more of a pop oriented kick to their usually folk-inspired songs. Their hit song ‘Casual Party’ has gained widespread radio play across the country as of late and establishes them as more than just indie darlings.

Fitz and the Tantrums: ‘Fitz and the Tantrums’

Boise Music Festival alumni, this Los Angeles-based sextet is back with a new self-titled album that’s full of 80s-inspired pop grooves including their hit single ‘Handclap’, which is as catchy as anything on the radio right now. Added Bonus: They’re returning to Boise to play a concert at the Knitting Factory Concert House on August 30!

Garbage: ‘Strange Little Birds’

These 90s darlings are back with a new record featuring their original frontwoman Shirley Manson after an eight-year hiatus. Unlike their band name may suggest, this group is certainly not garbage.

Nick Jonas: ‘Last Year Was Complicated’

Fitz and the Tantrums aren't the only Boise Music Festival alumni coming out with a new album this week. Releasing his third solo album, the 23-year-old pop superstar is back with a brand new twelve-song LP, featuring his hit single ‘Close’.

Peter, Bjorn and John: ‘Breakin’ Point’

Their seventh studio album, this Swedish indie pop group return with a new collection of songs from several top producers, including Paul Epworth (U2, Paul McCartney), Greg Kurstin (Adele), and Emile Haynie (Lana Del Ray).
