Pay It Forward in 2015
Need some better karma in 2015? Here's an easy way to start.
There I was sitting on the plane from Pittsburgh to Chicago (and eventually back to Boise) desperately trying to find something life changing in the final pages of "The Single Woman" Mandy Hale's third book I’ve Never Been to Vegas but My Luggage Has. My trip home ended a little differently than I hoped. I've got nothing to hide now because it blew-up in my face. I was excited to see one of my guy friends back there that I had a crush on and I honestly thought that wasn't secret/mutual. Long story short, I found out at the end of the week he had a girlfriend and I'm crushed.
One of my ever wise Boise friends told me "same $#!+, different state." He was right. I need some better karma in 2015. I want to be more like Mandy. She went through some rough stuff but never faltered in her faith or her dreams of making a difference in the world even when the men in her life tried to keep her down. So I started thinking "What can I do in 2015 to make a difference and place things in God's hands? Where do I even start?" And that's when it popped up literally in front of my face. I was enjoying fish and chips and a Sour Peach beer at Whole Foods when I saw this:
"After all the recent terrible tragedies that have happened and are happening, this world needs as much kindness as it can get. I'm participating in the 'Pay it Forward' initiative: The first five people who comment on this status with "I'm in" will receive a surprise from me at some point during calendar year 2015 - anything from a book, a ticket, something homemade, a postcard, absolutely any surprise! There will be no warning and it will happen when the mood comes over me and I find something that I believe would suit you and make you happy. These five people must make the same offer on their Facebook status. Once my first five have commented "I'm in" I will forward this message to you privately, so that you can copy and paste it, and put it on your status, (don't share it) so that we can form a chain of kindness. Let's do more nice and loving things in 2014 and 2015, without any reason other than to make each other smile and show that we think of each other. Here's to a more enjoyable, friendly and love filled year."
God's timing is so bizarre sometimes. I knew that's exactly where I needed to start and I knew He was telling me that because the friend who posted it. We'd lost touch when she finally got together with the love of her life and I couldn't make sense of losing mine in such strange way.
So I'm in. Are you?
Grab the Facebook status and spread the love around in 2015!
