COVID Restrictions- Where Does Idaho Rank?

If you've been annoyed at the lack of places being open here in Idaho, or not being able to go the places or do the things you want to in the Treasure Valley, you may be surprised to see just how lenient our restrictions are, compared to other states.

With some Americans heading to state capitols in protest of coronavirus lockdowns (which they've done here in Boise), Wallethub put out new rankings of U.S. states with the most and least coronavirus restrictions.

Their ranking system took things into account like shelter-in-place orders, limits on large gatherings and whether restaurants and bars have reopened.

The states with the fewest restrictions? (check the link for more):
  1. South Dakota
  2. Utah
  3. North Dakota
  4. Missouri
  5. Idaho
  6. Tennessee
  7. Montana
  8. Texas
  9. Florida
  10. Iowa

We have the FIFTH fewest restrictions in the nation! I'm shocked by that, because even though we're in stage 1 of reopening, so many things are still closed, and for good reason.

As for the states with the strictest guidelines?

  1. Hawaii
  2. Rhode Island
  3. Washington, D.C.
  4. Illinois
  5. Pennsylvania
  6. New Jersey
  7. New York
  8. Massachusetts
  9. Ohio
  10. Connecticut
