Bird Flu Is Back In Idaho – Local Area Quarantined
There comes a time in your life where you expect a few things from the month of December:
- Some extra time off from work to spend with family
- Hopefully, lots of presents
- Enough eggnog to drown out Uncle Lee's racist rants during Christmas dinner
Please notice that "Bird Flu" is not on the aforementioned list. So why in the hell is it back in Idaho?
A bird flu outbreak has put a local Idaho property under quarantine.
Just across the way over in Menan, Idaho, a local man says his flock of 63 birds has dwindled down to just 10 after a nasty bird flu outbreak on his property.
The property owner contacted the Idaho State Department of Agriculture, who confirmed bird flu was the reasoning behind the birds' passing. Shortly after, the property was quarantined. Here's what the flock's owner had to say:
One was multiple sudden deaths across different species. Sometimes chickens get sick, and they die … but when I have multiple dead chickens and turkeys all in the same day, that raised some alarm. Other birds (in my flock) were lethargic and then passed an hour later.
Hopefully, you're actively trying to avoid contacting the bird flu. Which is good, because it's very bad for you. Some quick tips:
- Always wash your hands after handling birds
- Avoid handling other people's flocks
- Change your clothes after handling birds
-
Uh oh. This isn't good.
If you're trying to stay healthy this holiday season into next year, you may want to stock up. It's sounding more and more likely that many of these products may be scarce, or even unavailable, in 2025:
