A disturbing social media post was shared this week by a family trying to track down a lost pet. Someone contacted them, claiming to have the animal and demanding money. Threats were also made to the family if the money wasn't handed over.

An incident reportedly traced to a Utah number was reported to police after a complaint was made to Canyon County investigators about an individual claiming to have reached out to an Idaho family regarding a lost dog and trying to swindle the pet owners out of $200.

A threat was reportedly made to "kill" the animal if demands were not met, according to the September 28 post on the 208 Lost and Found Pets Meta page.
