Well, that just happened! The Boise State Bronco football team just blew a big game Saturday night against BYU and slipped 8 spots to #22 in the AP Poll. Let's chillax a bit. It's just one game.

What's this mean? The Broncos were projected to play in the Cotton Bowl and could be headed back to familiar territory in the Las Vegas Bowl. Now, all that crap is projections by analysts because nobody really knows what could happen. Here's what I Know and another reason everyone should just calm down.

I have been mentioning on-air that the Boise State Broncos had 3 games to worry about this season. They won their first game on the road against the Florida State Seminoles and that's really what started the buzz in Bronco Nation. The boys in blue killed a really good Hawai'i and put up 59 points. Starting quarterback Hank Bachmeier went down in that game and Coach Harsin subbed in 2 quarterbacks who both put touchdowns on the board. I was watching thinking if Hank was out - no problem! I was wrong.

Hank was out this week against BYU and backup Chase Cord started. Things looked good as the Broncos marched down the field first and put up 7. That's when it all fell apart and especially with turnovers. BYU outplayed the Broncos from their first possession. This was one of the games circled on the calendar because BYU might not be the best team but they have been upsetting ranked teams. They beat #14 Utah, #24 USC and now #14 BSU.

The Broncos still own their division by a few games which should put them in the Mountain West Championship on the blue. The next few things to look at is injured starting QB Hank and the Utah State game in late November. The Broncos should win the rest and if they get by Utah State with a big win - you're looking at the top 15 ranked BSU team. That means things still could be in play when it comes time to go bowling.

This is definitely a let down for Bronco Nation and we'll see how much it impacts fans on Saturday, November 9, 2019, on the blue. The last game was a record attendance. Will Bronco Nation show up and do it again? Ask any player and they will all sing the same song when it comes to fans showing up. There is a reason why they call the home crowd at Seahawks stadium the 12th man. Show up and wrech havoc on the visiting team and the chances of a Bronco win just went up. That's a fact.

Only two home games left.

  • Wyoming at BSU on 11/9/2019 (BLUE OUT Color Scheme for fans)
  • New Mexico at BSU on 11/16/2019 (SPIRIT Color Scheme for fans - wear any color)
  • Mountain West Championship 12/7/2019 (If the Broncos win out could hold a home-field advantage at Albertsons Stadium)

** Boise State lost to Fresno State in the Mountain West Championship last year during overtime 16-19.
