12 Million Pounds of Beef Being Recalled Across the Country
"Sh&$ just got real," as we like to say.
My favorite food is being recalled and the numbers keep going up.
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) just announced the recall of about 12,093,271 pounds of non-intact raw beef products from JPS Tolleson, Inc.
These products include 35 different items from seven brands including Generic, JBS, Kroger, Cedar River Garms, Comnor Perfect Choice, Gourmet Burger, Grass Run Farms and Showcase. The recall of beef includes ground beef, boneless beef sirloin trimmings, chuck beef brisket, and several types of burgers.
This recall came down today, Dec. 5, just a few months after the FSIS issued a previous recall of raw beef products. The recall in October was around 6 million and today the announcement is over 12 million. There have been 246 confirmed cases of sick people from Salmonella as of October.
Today's recall is classified as a Class I and means it's a health hazard situation with a very reasonable probability of getting sick. I'm no doctor but damn this ground beef stuff! This is what I eat!
Here are some symptoms and it looks like you get over it somewhere around a week. I would suggest getting checked especially in kids and senior citizens.
- Diarrhea
- Fever
- Abdominal cramps.
