After Win, Boise State Football Gets First Top 25 Ranking in Years
The news broke on Sunday evening and fans of Boise State football haven't been able to calm down since: Boise State has cracked into the Top 25 rankings.
After two wins and a narrow loss on the road in Eugene, Oregon, apparently the pollsters see enough in Boise State to give the team a 'go ahead' and place them right at #25 in the nation.
It's an honor to be ranked--one that Boise State hasn't held in about 4 years!
This year, however, the rankings mean a lot to this football program and the national implications surrounding the first ever 12-team playoff at the end of the year. In order for Boise State to lock in their spot for the playoff (and to be an actual National Championship contender) they will need to be the highest ranked program out of all of the 'non power' programs. If they can do that--they can GUARANTEE a spot in the playoff which is pretty amazing.
As it stands now, the Broncos are indeed in that spot.
Right behind them at #26? Washington State--the very team headed to Boise to play them in just a matter of days.
It's going to be a nationally watched game on The Blue-- lose and the Broncos may not see the rankings for a while again. Win? They're well on their way...
See the rankings for yourself, HERE.
While it was easy to assume that Boise State football fans were excited for the game and ready to see a win on The Blue--we were shocked to learn that a game day decision by the program had left so many fans grumpy!!
