Boise State football has been getting a LOT of press coverage lately--and for very different reasons.

On the field, the football team's running back, Ashton Jeanty, has been racking up the yards, the touchdowns, and the hype. Many believe that Jeanty could be a serious Heisman Trophy contender--something Boise State hasn't seen since Kellen Moore.

Off of the field, school administrators have made a pretty significant decision: Boise State will be leaving the Mountain West Conference to be one of the 'founding six' to bring the Pac-12 Conference to life.

Big moves, big news, and a lot on the horizon for Boise State.

There's a 'fumble' going on, however, that we need to point out. One that could and should be fixed.

This weekend, Boise State is playing Portland State University.

Who? Exactly.

Just hours north of Boise sit the Idaho Vandals, a team that is becoming the 'darling' of the internet because of their dancing coach and competitive play with much larger programs. The Vandals have been on the 'come up' for a few years now--once a laughing stock, the team now has momentum.

It's time that Boise State stop scheduling these programs that mean nothing to our area and keep what's Idaho made, right here in Idaho. The rivalry game has been 'dead' for years but that doesn't mean that it should stay that way.

True fans will remember there was nothing like the smack talk and tension in the air while Boise State was playing the University of Idaho--no matter what the score was.

These rivalry games are good for the culture of the State of Idaho and they keep dollars right here in the state, as well. Take a look at Nevada, where State officials are wanting to force its schools to remain in the same conference for this very reason.

Georgia Southern? Portland State? South Dakota?

Give us the Vandals.
