I-84 will be down to one lane between Nampa and Caldwell every weekend of this month. While it's for a good reason (repaving), let's avoid the road rage and take another route.

It's not that the ITD isn't considering your feelings - they are. They're also considering your ride into work each weekday. As far as the weekends go, those are claimed. At least for the rest of the month of June.

The stretch of I-84 between Nampa and Caldwell is quite literally crumbling. It's time to fix that.

Starting this Friday, June 2 at 7:00 p.m. until Monday, June 5 at 5:00 a.m. just one lane will be open in either direction between the Franklin Road interchange in Caldwell and the Franklin Boulevard interchange in Nampa. Think of the Franklins. As a side note, the westbound on and off ramps at the Franklin Road, Karcher Boulevard and Northside Boulevard interchanges will be closed.

The next scheduled closures are:

  • June 9th starting at 7:00 p.m. until June 12th at 5:00 a.m.
  • June 16th starting at 7:00 p.m. until June 19th at 5:00 a.m.
  • June 23rd starting at 7:00 p.m. until June 26th at 5:00 a.m.

Once this is all done, we'll have brand new pavement that will make for a smooth ride. It's worth it, right? When our hand is gripping the steering wheel heading through Nampa into Caldwell, you know you are thinking that you'd do anything for the ride to be a little bit smoother. Is that just me?
