It was a huge weekend for the athletic department at Bishop Kelly High School and all of us at 103.5 KISS FM want to give these Knights a huge shoutout for representing the Treasure Valley so well against the statewide competition!

It has been far from a normal year. We've seen cancelations, postponements, and more for nearly 12-months in a row now. From weddings to concerts, sporting events to graduations--you name the event and if it was happening in the last year, odds are it never happened.

While most things are getting back to "normal", slowly but surely, some events that were canceled will never be made up. Impacted heavily by the pandemic in AND out of the classroom, were our local student-athletes. Especially the Class of 2020 and those respective graduating seniors. In-person graduations, in most instances, were not able to be held and sports were canceled all together. Student athletes that worked all year and in many cases, SEVERAL years to finally showcase their skills in their senior year were robbed of the ability to do so because of COVID-19.

This past weekend, Bishop Kelly High School and their stellar lineup of student-athletes made a LOT of noise across the State of Idaho. You could call it some real redemption for their program and even for the Class of 2020 who didn't get to represent BK last Spring.

In the span of 24-hours, Bishop Kelly brought home SIX 4A State Championships this past Saturday. This included state titles for:

  • Baseball
  • Softball
  • Girls Track & Field
  • Boys Track & Field
  • Girls Tennis
  • Boys Tennis

If you've ever been inside of BK's Carley Center, the amount of State Championship banners that hangs is nearly intimidating. The continued success of BK in our community and on various athletic fields and courts is such an impressive story of success and hard work here in the Treasure Valley.

Of course, while I'm a graduate of Bishop Kelly myself, all of us at 103.5 KISS FM want to send a huge congratulations to the school and the students. I learned first hand just how dedicated the school and its coaches are to making these students more than just student-athletes, but well-rounded humans. Led by Athletic Director Tom Shanahan who I had the honor of being a student and athlete under during my years at Bishop Kelly, it's amazing to see this program and school thrive and truly standout--both state and nationwide!

Ooh Ahh, BK!
