Boise Educator Arrested in Teen Sexting Sting
This news makes me sick to my stomach. Well, I guess "sicker to my stomach" would be the appropriate phrase because when I learned about the Police Craigslist sting that nabbed 11 men wanting to have sex with minors, I was pretty nauseated.
There's just an extra bit of disgust with this particular arrest because it violates the trust we as a community placed in this man. That trust, is to teach and educate our young children.
A 62-year-old teacher in the Boise School District is the latest person caught up in a local law enforcement sting targeting child predators.
Michael Johnson was arrested Thursday afternoon on a felony charge of attempted lewd conduct with a child under the age of 16.
WTF? The next part will make you shake your head in disgust. According to the report, the ad solicited a sexual encounter with a 35-year-old mother and her 15-year-old daughter. We can't agree on gun laws, but I think we can all agree on what should happen to this guy if these allegations are true.
Another WTF moment in this story, as of the time of this post he's on bail (out of jail) and STILL may be employed with the school district.
Johnson remains listed on a staff directory at Jefferson Elementary but is absent from Longfellow Elementary's directory. He is due back in court April 4 for a preliminary hearing.
Idaho, we can do better.
