Boise Mayor Lauren McClean announced via social media on Friday that June 25th will be Larry Gebert Day in Boise.  McLean mentioned how much the deceased meteorologist meant to our city and state.

The mayor mentioned specifically the 'Where's Larry segment that was a fixture during the KTVB Morning News.  It wasn't unusual to see Mr. Gebert announce the weather from any location that housed a nonprofit.  Over the years, viewers would see him being rescued off a mountain, broadcasting underwater, roller skating with the roller girls, and appearing with Kevin Miller dressed up as a turkey.

Last week, Mayor McLean did take to Twitter to express her sorrow over the loss of the beloved Gebert.

Mr. Gebert's celebration of life will take place at the Cathedral of the Rockies Tuesday morning at 10 am.  Retired KTVB General Manager Doug Armstrong will officiate the ceremony.  The public is invited to share the joy that Larry Gebert provided to our community.  There is a move to lobby the governor to declare April Larry Gebert month.  You can read our coverage of that story by clicking the link here.
