Boise State Cancels Game Against Team With Transgender Player
Boise State volleyball was supposed to play against San José State last Saturday, September 28th.
But, they didn't.
Here's the statement Boise State put out regarding not participating in the match:
Boise State volleyball will not play its scheduled match at San José State on Saturday, Sept. 28. Per Mountain West Conference policy, the conference will record the match as a forfeit and a loss for Boise State. The Broncos will next compete on Oct. 3 against Air Force.
That's where things get interesting. Just last week, a lawsuit was filed in federal court claiming that a transgender athlete plays for San José State's volleyball team.
Weirder still, Boise State isn't the first team to cancel a meetup with San José State. Southern Utah University forfeited a match in September, and the University of Wyoming did the same thing.
No one is saying why the games are cancelled, who's making the calls to cancel them, and if more games will be forfeited at the last minute moving forward.
Are all these schools refusing to compete against San José State because they're being accused of having a transgender athlete on their squad?
This is going to be a story to watch.
