Electric Bicycles?  I had no idea these things existed, but apparently they do and their status on the Boise greenbelt is being reviewed.

Currently, E-bikes, or bikes that are powered by electric motors and batteries, are in limbo as far as city code is concerned. If you're an owner of a Class 1 of a Class 2 e-bike, you may soon (given approval is given after review), but totally in the clear to use your e-bike on greenbelt paths, bike lanes, and city streets just like a normal bicycle.

There is a Class 3 e-bike, however, that can travel faster than 28 miles per hour and those would be banned from the greenbelt.

If you're an owner of any of the above e-bikes, or maybe you just use the greenbelt a lot and have opinions on their usage, your voice can be heard next week. The Boise City Council is discussing the proposed rules at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday and there will be a window for public comment.
