Boise State ‘Glory Days’ Coach Gets Fired From Cal Head Coach Gig
When you think of Boise State football, what comes to mind?
Even folks that wouldn't consider themselves football fans can answer that with two things: The Blue Turf and The Fiesta Bowl.
The Broncos have seen plenty of wins and high-points since that infamous 2007 Fiesta Bowl-- and yes, they have even won and played in their fair share of Fiesta Bowls since the infamous game. That original game with the trick plays just hits different.
On staff during those 'glory days'-- from 2006 to 2009 -- Justin Wilcox.
Since his time in Boise, Wilcox went on to make a name for himself at Tennessee, Washington, USC, and eventually head coach at Cal.
After 9 season as THE guy at Cal, the program has fired Wilcox after a blow-out loss to Stanford.
Sure, fans want to see wins and bowl games--but those closer to the program have been vocal in their support of Wilcox:
When it comes down to it, is there a better compliment than that for a coach
What could be next for Justin Wilcox? With so many coaching openings around the nation--there's certainly plenty of opportunity. Some argued that Oregon State, a seat that has been open for weeks now, could be a great seat for him. Most argues that isn't likely, however...
We'll continue to keep an eye out for Wilcox updates and we're hoping he lands somewhere exciting, soon!
