City Of Nampa Prepares COVID-19 Time Capsule
I've been a fan of writing letters ever since I was a kid. There is something about taking your thoughts and putting them on paper. Maybe it's just easier for me to communicate that way than it is to try and speak what I'm thinking or feeling off of the cuff. Either way, since I can remember, writing letters and reading letters has been a fascination of mine. I loved writing to my favorite athletes and even to Mister Rogers, believe it or not. Over the years, I received letters back from a lot of really cool people-- I was always shocked to hear back.
The value of reading letters or written correspondence, in my opinion, is priceless. When you look back at history, so many accounts that paint the picture of how things were or what was going on can tell us SO much. They are historical primary sources.
Now, WE have the opportunity to contribute to a pretty amazing time capsule that will tell future generations just what this past year has been like. If you think about it, historically, the year 2020 will go down as one that will always be studied and remembered-- even though in the moment, we all hated going through it. In order to commemorate the year 2020, the City of Nampa and Mayor Debbie Kling have announced they will be compiling a time capsule.
Pull out some paper and a pen OR type up a letter. Have your kids draw a picture or write a poem or song-- find a way to, on paper, express how 2020 was and share that with the City of Nampa before February 15th, 2021 to be included!
Yes, Bernie meme's are acceptable additions, too.
