Concert Series Benefiting WCA Comes to New Esther Simplot Park
I've been dying for the weather to FINALLY warm up so I could go stroll through the new Ester Simplot Park!
I've only seen the Greenbelt part of the new park twice. Once on an 18º day during the Ho Ho Ho Hustle and once during a rainy, windy and cold Half Crazy training run. Needless to say, the conditions were less than ideal those day so I didn't get to take in the beauty of the river-fed ponds in the park. Lounging by the water, whether it's the River, Quinn's Pond, Lucky Peak or anything else, is my favorite part of summer in the Treasure Valley and that's why I'm very excited about "Music on the Water!"
According to the Idaho Statesman, the producer of the event is teaming up with the race director of the "Onward Shay!" runs for the new concert series. Their ultimate goal was to put together a family friendly event that incorporated an expo and the beauty of the park while ultimately giving back to the community.
That's why 100% of the proceeds from any VIP tickets sold to the summer concerts will go directly to our good friends at the Women's and Children's Alliance! Those tickets get you into a fenced seating area close to where the musicians are set up on the dock of the park's pond. Local food, beer and wine will be available for purchase. They'll also offer water sports, face painting and children's activities during the shows.
Check out the line-up for this year's series:
- June 23rd: Brooke Wilson (pop violin,) The Lost Men, Kevin Kirk and Onomatopoeia
- July 22nd: Darian Renee (pop singer, we're FB friends and I just adore all of her posts!) Big Wow Band and Lakoda
- August 19th: DJ Dr. Fresh, The Delta, Marshall Poole and Voice of Reason
