Could Idaho Afford To Provide Housing For The Homeless?

It's a challenging feeling to explain.

You're walking around town, minding your own business, when you see a homeless person living on the street. Perhaps they ask you for money, perhaps they leave you alone, but you can't help but think to yourself "I want to help, but what can I do?"

Would Idaho providing housing for our homeless population be the answer?

States With the Lowest Homeless Population in 2024

These states have the lowest amount of homeless people compared to their overall population for the entire state.

You may not be aware, but in some countries, they believe so strongly in eradicating homelessness that they actually provide housing for those who can't afford it.

In Finland, they're doing exactly that. Providing a home, apartment, rental or flat to people who have found themselves without shelter. Finland has also mandated that 25% of all homes built in the country be affordable, social housing.

In Japan, they take the opposite tactic. Panhandling is illegal, and they've even designed some of their architecture to prevent people from sleeping outside in the first place.

What do you think? Does Idaho have the funds to pull this off? Could the Idaho government find a way to work together to provide shelter for our homeless population? Is this matter even important enough for the Idah government to consider a new tactic?

Unfortunately, the homeless population is even more staggering over in Washington, where they most certainly need some assistance with helping those living there without shelter.
