Just when we thought we had heard it all, COVID-19 rears its ugly head again and causes yet another more disruption in our lives. Can you believe that COVID-19 is causing a change shortage in Idaho. I've been noticing that some business are posting signs asking patrons to pay using exact change or use a card. I thought nothing of it until today. Apparently this is a real thing.

Vice President of Operations for Idaho Central Credit Union, Brandi Dye. told KTVB, the reason this is happening is because...

“The Federal Reserve has had to put some restrictions in place related to COVID for social distancing so the production in the U.S. Mint is actually down,” Dye continued. “In addition to that just because of the economic situation we're in right now the flow of coins has actually slowed, which means the amount of deposits that are taken to the Federal Reserve are significantly lower.”

Now you know, the next time you move the cushions around on your couch and find lose change, save it because there is a shortage in Idaho.
