Dairy Days Brings Road Closures to Downtown Meridian
Planning on getting somewhere in a hurry in Downtown Meridian tonight? You may want to find an alternate route!
Two summers ago, my fiance and I were on a recreational indoor soccer team at Idaho Soccer Center in Meridian. Since it was a league of "responsible" adults, most of our games started after 6 p.m. once everyone was done with work. Usually after rush hour, it's a pretty easy drive into Meridian, but I distinctly remember one game where we were 5 minutes away from kick off and a whole 3 people on the team made it to ISC! After shooting out texts to everyone we found out that there were a bunch of road closures and everyone was stuck in traffic.
Why do I share that story with you? Because the road closures came from Meridian Dairy Days "Real Dairy" Parade! It happens again this evening at 6:45 p.m!
Road closures for the parade will start at 5 p.m. on Friday, June 24d. Main Street, 2 1/2 Street and 3rd Street, along with the streets that run east and west between Meridian Road and 3rd Street between Franklin and Fairview will be closed. That does include portions of Franklin and Fairview. Access on Pine between Locust Grove and Meridian Road will be closed to thru traffic. If you're not sure where to go, there will be flaggers in place to help you find your way through the detours.
Dairy Days brings a ton of fun family events to Meridian including a carnival, fun run 5K, races at Meridian Speedway and fireworks show! If you want to take the family out, you can find a complete list of events HERE!
