Boise State's football team is preparing to kickoff their season and the SEC couldn't be further from their minds. Look, the Broncos MIGHT have an SEC team on their plate come bowl season but they've got to win their way there, first.

Utah State on the other hand, has been preparing for the top team in the nation, the University of Alabama, for weeks.  While Boise State takes on a middle-of-the-road Pac-12 opponent in Oregon State, all eyes will be on Utah State to see just how the team compares to THE college football powerhouse.

In a press conference this afternoon, head coach Nick Saban was asked about his Mountain West opponent, Utah State. He had a lot of things to say about the team but never really mentioned Boise State. Some folks on Twitter--even if they're just having a little fun with it all--had hoped Saban would mention the Broncos somewhere along the way.

In speaking of the Utah State Aggies, Saban remarked:

They ended up a top 25 team a year ago, they won 11 games. They beat a couple of Pac-12 teams. They beat Oregon State in a bowl game. They have 12 starters back and the quarterback (Logan Bonner) is back, who is a really good player.

Nowhere did Saban mention that they've put up a decent fight against well-known "cinderella" Boise State. Or that they play in the same conference.

Should he have? Well, we don't see why-- when was the last time Boise State was in a serious major bowl conversation? Nothing but love for Boise State but it is a memory long-gone for many.

While Boise State is going to be leaving it all on the field in hopes of setting the standard back to where it was a decade ago-- Utah State is going to take a stab at being THE team everyone is talking about on Monday--with a win over the Crimson Tide.

When asked if Utah State might have an advantage this weekend, given they've played a game and Alabama hasn't, he responded:

You usually improve a lot from Week 1 to Week 2. From that standpoint, it is probably an advantage to have had a game.

We'll see if Utah State can pull off the win and hopefully, the overly-eager Boise State fans that wanted more Mountain West breakdown will calm down a little bit.  By the way, Utah State has only ever beaten Boise State three times in history-- most recently in 2015.

Boise State plays Utah State here at home in Boise on November 25th.
