Does Boise Need a Larger Jail? Ada County Seeks Public Input

Perched along the connector into downtown Boise, sits a plan tan building surrounded by tall fencing. A small plot of grass and thin, mysterious windows line the exterior. Most may never know--but many do--that this serves as Ada County's Jail and it has bee just that for over two decades.

Ada County, which encompasses Boise, Meridian, Eagle, Star, Kuna, Garden City and Hidden Springs, is the State of Idaho's largest county. The jail serves all of those cities which fall under its umbrella--and now, officials are wanting public input on the building.

While from the outside it seems as though the county has done a great job of taking care of the place--officials at the county and employees of the Sheriff's Office, who staff the place, say that growing pains have been going on for some time--and it's busting at the seams.

As you can see from their official statement, the place is full and it's only going to get more and more hectic over time. Some call for criminal justice reform and others just want to see the facility get updated and expanded.
