You probably won't find yourself on the receiving end of a bear attack as you're walking around downtown Boise.

Checking out the top of Table Rock? Not very likely to encounter a bear there.

Archery hunting in a remote part of northern Idaho in the middle of nowhere? Well, you can probably guess where this is going.

An archery hunter was the victim of a surprise bear attack whilst hunting with a friend near Henrys Lake in Island Park.

Never heard of it? It's more or less BFE, about 60 miles of Yellowstone National Park.

Reports say the hunter was knocked over, then bitten by the large animal. The hunter and his friend both discharged firearms, which eventually put the bear down and ended the attack.

However, if you're hunting in the absolutely middle of nowhere, 60 miles from any well-known location, in the wilderness, is a bear attack really a "surprise" bear attack? You're in the bear's home hunting animals. We are very much glad the hunter is ok and is going to make it out in one piece, but we're also imploring you to use caution when you're hunting, or just find yourself out in the wilderness.

You never know what could be out there. But, you do. And, it's a bear.
