Imagine a loved one or a close friend suddenly disappearing. It's a reality that many in America face--and it is terrifying.

Thanks to local and national law enforcement agencies, there are usually searches for these folks. Many times, authorities are able to solve the case. Sometimes, however, they go cold.

A case with ties to Idaho and the greater Treasure Valley area now has the attention of the FBI and the public is being asked for help.

According to the FBI, Besalynn Mary James has been missing -- last seen at her residence in Washington.

There is a $10,000 reward for helping lead suspects to justice

The Federal Bureau of Investigation's Seattle Field Office, Lummi Nation Police Department, Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office, Bellingham Police Department, and other law enforcement partners are investigating the disappearance of Besalynn Mary James, a tribal member, who was last seen on January 20, 2025, at 1:16 p.m. at her residence in Bellingham, Washington, on the Lummi Nation Indian Reservation. James was reported missing to the Lummi Nation Police Department on January 25, 2025. It is believed that James was wearing a black jacket at the time of her disappearance.  The rest of her belongings were left behind when she went missing and she did not drive.  Additionally, she was never known to go anywhere without her dogs, and they were left behind as well.

 

According to authorities, she has ties to Boise and Nampa, Idaho.

Now, FBI officials hope that folks in Idaho can assist in looking for her, as she's been missing for over a year. A $10,000 reward has also been issued, applicable to anyone who can help lead authorities to the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in her disappearance.
