Wildfire season in the State of Idaho. Is there anything worse?

Each summer, it seems that we here in Idaho and the Pacific Northwest in general are forced to deal with fires breaking out in our mountains and foothills--which is horrible for many reasons.

Here in the city, we're forced to deal with poor air quality which really kills our ability to enjoy what makes living here so great: the outdoors.  In the foothills, we see homes and property threatened by flames too tough to control and in the mountains, we see forests and wildlife suffer.  The list of wildfire downsides, of course, is much longer.

As we get closer to 'fire season' here in Idaho--for two local drivers, the 'season' is all too real.  A couple that posted a video of their experience with a fire that broke out near Boise along I-84 this past week has over 100,000 views and counting and it is absolutely terrifying.

The images hardly do the drama of this video justice, but take a closer look at this 'too close for comfort' moment on TikTok

This was a cocktail for disaster and we are glad that this driver is safe

We have no idea how else we would have handled this--and are glad those in this car are safe!

You can see from the video that the flames were moving quickly, getting larger, and visibility was decreasing. The drivers also noted that you could feel the flames through the car.

What do you do in that situation? It's tough to keep speeding ahead if you don't know what is 100 yards ahead of you. It seems their decision to turn off onto the other side of the Interstate was wise.

See the dramatic video for yourself, below:

@saylormarieg We got caught in the fire on I84 while leaving Boise Idaho. Very scary experience. A state potrol officer told us it was contained and safe allowing us to pass and the fire jumped across the interstate causing us to flea across the median. Very blessed to be safe and sound. Love and light to all involved #i84idaho #bosieidaho #fire #blessed #bosie #idaho #moutainhomes ♬ original sound - SaylorMarieG
