I love how this community comes together to help those in need. It's almost as if the people of the Treasure Valley are constantly looking for an opportunity to make a positive difference. Here is a perfect example, there are several free lunch programs for kids during the week however there are none that serve on weekends... until now.

Protect Idaho Kids is putting on a free lunch program called PIKnic at the Park and it will take place on Sundays, starting on the 28th at Ann Morrison Park in Boise.

"The schools are doing meals Monday-Friday and so is the Boys and Girls Club, but it doesn't seem like very many people are doing it on the weekends, so we want to fill in that gap," said Bruce Wingate from Protect Idaho Kids in an interview with ktvb. "It's tough for the kids to go all weekend without the lunches, so hopefully this will help and give the parents another day where they don't have to worry about feeding the kids."

A great big salute to Protect Idaho Kids for stepping up and finding a way to serve their community.
