Goodbye Lines: Renew Your Idaho License Online

Last November I made my way out to the Idaho Department of Transportation's Drivers Licensing Office in Caldwell to update my license. It was due and almost expired. Why did I wait that long? I'm typically ahead on these types of things but this time I wasn't. Line were just too long. It was all over the news at the time, people are waiting all day to get help at the counter. I, like most people with jobs, just don't have the time for that! Oh, and no way am I burning a PTO day for a DRIVERS LICENSE.

I showed up around 7:00 a.m., an hour before the office even opened, thinking that I would be able to get in and out. Wow, was I wrong. The line into the office was already around the block. I waited, waited, and finally got in. That was something I hope to never have to do again.

If your drivers license needs renewed and you're dreading that line too, there's good news. Now, you can do this ONLINE.

It's a huge development just announced by the Idaho Transportation Department which allows Idahoans to renew their licenses online. If you need to apply for one you still have to go to a counter. This is certainly going to help with long wait times as well.
