It wasn't long ago we told you that Kootenai County was home to a man who tested positive for West Nile Virus.

Unfortunately, it's inching into the Treasure Valley.

It happened earlier this summer. A mosquito trap in Canyon County caught mosquitoes that tested positive for West Nile Virus. The mosquito abatement district will be on the scene to check homes and storm drains for mosquito larvae in an attempt to contain the virus.

If you think you've been bitten by a mosquito near that area, there are steps you can take to keep yourself safe.
