There has been a recall on Easter-themed sponge toys. This includes Hatch & Grow Easter Eggs, Easter Grow Toys and Hatch Your Own Dino Egg. The return is simple and you'll get a full refund. The recall is because kids are ingesting them and they start to expand.

If you are looking at that Easter basket all full and ready for Sunday thinking you did a pretty great job, take one more peek. You probably did an amazing job but take out a few items and return them to Target for a full refund.

Check that Target bag or the Easter basket for these $1 items sold between February and March:

  • Hatch & Grow Easter Eggs (model number 234-25-1200)
  • Easter Grow Toys (model number 234-25-1200)
  • Hatch Your Own Dino Egg (model number 234-09-0016)

To find the model number, take a peek at the label inserted in the product's packaging.

Not to panic. No incidents and injuries have been reported. We'll keep it that way.

According to the Consumer Products Safety Commission, you may return your recalled items, go into any Target store for a full refund.

Here's what could happen. The "growing toys" have a sponge-like material inside a capsule or Easter-theme shaped toy. Once the capsule is inside a person's body (a child), it will open up and expand. Surgery is required to remove the toy from the body - which actually may not show up on an x-ray.

Target locations in the Treasure valley are:

  • 633 N. Milwaukee St. (near the mall)
  • 6280 N. Eagle Rd (corner of Eagle Rd and Chinden)
  • 16300 N. Marketplace Blvd (Nampa off Midland Blvd.)
