We did the right thing recently and did our own research to find out how fast above the speed limit you can legally drive in Idaho.

That got us thinking. Can you get a ticket, or get in even worse trouble with the law, for driving too slow under the speed limit?

It's research time. Let's go.

According to the Idaho State Legislature, Title 49, Chapter 6:

49-655.  Minimum speed regulation. No person shall drive a motor vehicle at such a slow speed as to impede the normal and reasonable movement of traffic except when reduced speed is necessary for safe operation or in compliance with the law. Notwithstanding any minimum speed that may be authorized and posted pursuant to this section, no person shall operate a vehicle in the extreme left-hand lane of a controlled-access highway for a period of time that impedes the flow of other traffic traveling at a lawful rate of speed.

So, yes and no?

This is how we're reading that: Yes, you can legally drive under the speed limit. However, if you're driving so slowly that it causes traffic to build up behind you, that could result in a traffic infraction. Unless you're going slow to do hazardous driving conditions.

Wow. If that's not a non-answer.

Looks like you're going to have to use your best judgement if you want to drive like Nana on the way to work every morning. Do drive safely, but don't drive so safely that you get a ticket.

If you do get pulled over for driving too slowly, maybe you can dance yourself out of that traffic ticket:
