Idaho Animal Shelter Issues Emergency Plea for Pet Food Donations
If there is one thing that folks here in the Treasure Valley absolutely love, it is their pets. It's no secret that residents in our area are pet people--take a stroll down any hiking trial / walking path or take a scroll on social media and you're bound to see pet after pet after pet.
Our local animal shelters are constantly working to help keep animals healthy and safe--while working to find their forever homes!

One local shelter, West Valley Humane Society, is asking for help from the public because they need more food to keep the animals that they are watching after, fed.
The shelter is the second largest in the State of Idaho and they do really great work for our local animals--whether they're seeking homes or are lost, trying to find their way home!
Located in Caldwell, Idaho--the West Valley Humane Society shared the following message on Facebook:
We are especially low on food for some of our most vulnerable animals. Our foster families and staff are caring for well over 100 cats and kittens, plus dozens of dogs—and our shelves are running low. Many kittens are in quarantine at the shelter as they arrived with Ringworm and Feline Calicivirus and it will be a while before they are ready for adoption.
According to the shelter, they are critically low on:
- Wet Adult Cat Food
- Wet Kitten Food
- Dry Dog Food
Any food donations you may have can be dropped off at the shelter, located at
You can also donate food online via the shelter's Amazon 'Wish List' Page, HERE.
