The Gem State is about to get its fair share of $18,500,000 courtesy of one of the world's largest retailers.

In 2013, a major security breach struck Target, resulting in millions of customer's personal and financial information being leaked. The breach was nationwide, but just in Idaho 140,000 payment card accounts and 280,000 customers’ information were leaked.

The fallout of the breach resulted in an $18,500,000 settlement to 46 states, including Idaho. Specifically, Idaho will be receiving just over $192,000 from the retailer. Target must also add to its information security systems as part of the settlement, including hiring an independent third party to review the company's new security measures.
