Does Idaho Have a Speeding Problem? Police Say 'Slow Down!'

It's that time of the year again: no snow on the ground and lots of reasons to take advantage of the wide open and dry roads! Boise Police see a lot this time of year and often times--it's tragic.

Dubbed the '100 Deadliest Days', this time more than any other is when authorities deal with deaths on the road because there are so many cars out there--and it only takes one inattentive or dangerous driver to ruin it for everyone.

Here's a look at some of the speed radar readings that were shared by the Boise Police Department online ahead of last years' 100 Deadly Days--can you believe anyone is driving this fast!?

Who needs to go 162 miles per hour anywhere in Boise--or really, anywhere at all!? This is just a dangerous speed!

In a statement to warn the public of the dangers of summer road travel, the Idaho State Police said:

We’re about to enter the 100 Deadliest Days — the period between Memorial Day and Labor Day when teen crash fatalities increase.

More time behind the wheel with less experience. Distractions, speeding, and impaired driving all contribute to the deadly numbers we see during these months.

Now is the time to talk to your teen. Safe driving starts with smart conversations.

The shocking number of deaths on our roads just a year ago is alarming--nearly one death per day of these '100 Deadliest Days'. It's fair to say that this may be one of the greatest dangers in our beloved Treasure Valley community.

Spend any time driving around the Treasure Valley and odds are you will spot a little bit of road rage. While it's nothing wildly aggressive most times, it seems that with the growth of our city has come a lot of conflicting opinions on HOW to drive on our streets.
