Idaho Teacher Accused of Rape of First Grader
She has pleaded not guilty, but 46-year-old Tiffany Petersen has been placed on administrative leave following rape and lewd conduct charges involving a child in the first grade.
The Pocatello teacher entered her not-guilty plea in a Bannock County courtroom yesterday. Tiffany Petersen taught at Syringa Elementary School and what she stands accussed of allegedly happened back in 2008 according to the Idaho State Journal. Each of her charges carries a maximum sentence of life.
The parents of the child accusing Petersen have also filed a civil lawsuit against the district according to idahonews.com.
So far we don't have a lot of details on this case. As our justice system works, she is innocent until proven guilty and like I said she has plead not-guilty. On the other hand, if she is proven guilty, these are obviously very serious charges against a very young innocent child.
We'll keep you in the loop as details, in this case, are released.
