The Tennessee House just passed a bill which would allow a county clerk to deny a marriage license to a same-sex, interfaith, or interracial couple.

Yes, you read that right. In 2023, Tennessee, in the United States of America, thinks it's cool to not let people get married if one is white and one is black. Or if one is Christian and one is Jewish. Or if both are female. What happened?

While we can't instantly change a law over in Tennessee over here in Idaho, we've got to ask: Could the Gem State be the next state to move forward with this discrimination?

As of the writing of this article, you're allowed to marry someone in Idaho even if they're a different race religion, or the same gender as you. We have thousands of happily married couples in Idaho who are in the relationships described above, and we can't imagine what it'd be like to be told that your marriage is no longer valid.

It's difficult when love and politics intersect. Do we strive to talk about politics all day? Of course not. Is it important to use that all of our listeners are able to live the life the please with the person they love? Of course it is! 99% of the songs we play on the radio are about love!

Here's to hoping Idaho can lead the way on treating our neighbors equally, and show the state of Tennessee that they are definitely not in the majority with their new bill.
