It's summertime in the Treasure Valley and that's no secret. School is out and temperatures are holding steady...at well over 100 degrees. We're in the midst of a summer 'to remember' here in Idaho--whether we're cranking the AC or not.

With summer comes a lot of opportunities to get outside and Idahoans are not shy about their love for our parks, lakes, rivers, and wilderness.

Did you know that one of America's BEST outdoor activities is actually right in our backyard?

If you've ever driven North of Boise to McCall or the likes, you've probably seen the beautiful Payette river off of the side of the road--and maybe even the occasional raft or kayak. If you've thought to yourself ... "I would never" ... we're here to tell you that you absolutely SHOULD.

Since 1985, Cascade Raft & Kayak has been offering world-class adventure--literally--just minutes from the Treasure Valley. Family owned and operated, Cascade Raft & Kayak has taken thousands of families, work groups and adventurers on trips of a lifetime down the Payette River--via the 'main', the South Fork, and the Carbarton.

What may look like 'the craziest thing you'll ever do' in a photo, is actually one of the most FUN things you'll ever do and it's right in our backyard, safely directed by professional and experienced guides.

Here's a closer look at some of America's BEST outdoor adventuring--right in our backyard!

Have you ever experienced a whitewater rafting trip!?

We had the chance to take our team down the South Fork of the Payette just a couple of weeks ago and we are STILL talking about the trip.

As we learned from the first timers on our trip--there's no understanding just how fun and 'not-so-scary' these rafting trips can be until you just do it!

The folks at Cascade Raft & Kayak really are the experts. From the moment you arrive to the shuttle bus which takes you to your 'river input', all of the way along the river, and your return to the meeting point, all rafters are kept safe and made to feel totally comfortable. It can be intimidating for some first timers--but truly, once that first 'rapid' splashes you under the warm summertime sun--you'll be begging for the next rapid.

Both the 'adventure' route which offers Class III & IV rapids and the 'family' route, which offers class II & III rapids offer plenty of 'calm water' time in which rafters can just enjoy the float or even hop out of the raft and float along in the calm, cool water. It's one of the most serene outdoor experiences you could have!

Adventuring out with Cascade Raft & Kayak really will be something you look back on and talk about for years--if you're like us, it may even become an annual tradition! The drive is just under an hour from Boise. You're hard pressed to find one single person who isn't laughing, smiling, or recapping their adventure on the Payette River back at Cascade Raft & Kayak HQ following their time on the water.

Boise River--we love you. But there's no competing with the Payette -- and Cascade Raft & Kayak is just the crew to show you what you've been missing out on.
