Internet Rips Boise State Hours After Quarterback Announcement

After a roller coaster of a season at Boise State's blue turf and football headquarters last year, it seems the the 'drama', no matter how unnecessary it is in the long run, is back for more.

How long will it last? True fans hope not long--but it sure seems that there's a 'vocal' piece of the fanbase that just can't be pleased.

On Sunday afternoon, news broke nationwide that Boise State had announced and selected their starting quarterback for the 2024 season.

So what's all the drama about?

As you may recall, last season, Boise State was running a highly criticized 'two quarterback' system that included Maddux Madsen, who is returning this fall.

During the off season, Boise State fans went absolutely crazy over the program landing a transfer quarterback from USC, who a year ago, was literally the top recruit in the nation. Fans fantasized of this top prospect, Malachi Nelson, being the star quarterback that they haven't seen since Kellen Moore.

Over the weekend, coaches shared: Nelson won't be starting.

Boise State (and its fans) simply isn't used to landing prospects the size of Malachi Nelson and so it's easy to see why he was the favorite to lands the starting position, but according to Head Coach Spencer Danielson--it's Madsen that is the most prepared to lead this team.

Fans don't seem sold.

It seems that Boise State football is lacking confidence in their leadership? It's fair to say that said lack in confidence is actually unfair. This team and this new coaching staff hasn't even taken to the field yet.

Boise State fans, for years, have grown accustomed to winning and it sees that even a tiny doubt in their ability to win riles up fans aggressively.

Everyone take a deep breath--many 'experts' believe this team has what it takes to win and advance. We can't wait to watch!
