If you bring up the city of Boise, Idaho to someone who isn't from here, you're likely to hear "Oh, you mean like potatoes?" as the reply. Bring up Boise to a resident, and they'll happily talk your ear off about how damn expensive it is to live in the City of Trees in 2023.

Ask your neighbor. A coworker. Anyone who lives within 50 miles of Boise. "Is it expensive to live here?" The evil look you'll get in return is...something.

It's pricey to live in Boise. An influx of folks moving here, increased trafffic and gas prices, inflation and an unstable job market are just some of the factors contributing to Boise's increasing cost of living.

But how much does it actually cost to be able to say you live in Boise? Let's take a look.

For an average family of four, monthly costs come in right around $3,650 per month. Oh, by the way, that's not including rent. If you add on the typical rent/mortgage payment of $1,500 per month, you can see how astronomical the price is just to exist in Boise.

While living in Boise is definitely cheaper than living in New York City, the cost of living is well above the national average.

What's one to do to be able to afford a living space in Idaho's great state capitol? May we recommend selling your old Beanie Babies, mowing lawns for money, or investing in cryptocurrency.

Just kidding. We don't know anything about any of those things. So, good luck!
