ORIGINAL STORY:

It's been confirmed that Jimmy Wopo passed away following the shooting this evening (June 18).

UPDATE:

Jimmy Wopo was reportedly shot in Pittsburgh's Hill District on Monday (June 18) and transported to a local hospital. The "Elm Street" rapper is in critical condition, Wopo's manager told WTAE.

The incident was reportedly a double shooting that took place near the intersection of Wylie Avenue and Chauncey Street. The other victim is in stable condition, according to KDKA.

Wopo released his latest mixtape Back Against the Wall in October. It was his first project since spending two months in jail for a probation violation.

Earlier last year, the Pittsburgh spitter sat down with XXL's The Break and reminisced about his first time rapping to an audience, with his mother's help.

"My mom called the radio before when I was a young nigga. They used to have this shit on 106.7 WAMO, ‘If you got flow, let us know.’ You call up the station and they ask you to rap," Wopo said. "My mom called it and I rapped on the show. I was probably like 7 years old. I was cussin’ like a muthafucka. A couple of niggas was like, ‘I heard you on the radio.’ [My mom] always remember that story. It was a big moment."

Wopo also shared with XXL his ultimate career goals. "I don’t want to be no one-hit nigga or two years and gone nigga. I want to be on and be in the industry for a long time," he said.

We've reached out to Wopo's management for comment and will update when we hear back.
