Last night I went to see the new Johnny Depp movie " Transcendence", It was an extremely interesting movie! Basically, this "anti-computer-intelligence" activist group thought these experiments conducted by Johnny Depp's character, Dr. Will Caster, were along the same lines as humans creating gods.

Dr. Will Caster was creating a computer program that would have emotions, just like humans. Obviously these activists, also know as R.I.F.T, only saw the negative in the creation of this program. They plotted a terrorist attack on several IT labs that were conducting research on this program called P.I.N.N. in which they had shot a "radio-active" laced bullet at Dr. Will Caster, infecting his blood stream, and only giving him about 4-5 week to live.

Dr. Will Caster had conducted an experiment on a Monkey duplicated his mind into a program. Dr. Caster's wife Evelyn Caster took it upon herself to conduct this experiment on her husband out of pure love. This experiment was a success, and his mind continued to live on...until R.I.F.T found out what was going on. Check out the trailer, and website.

The ending concept was pretty cool, Dr. Will Caster really just wanted to be with the love of his life! His only intention was to help people, and change the world by nano-cell research, in which R.I.F.T thought he was going to use this "power" that he had to rule to world! Dr. Will Caster was just trying to figure out how to un-do what R.I.F.T had done to him...and all they did was take his life, and take him from his one true love Evelyn.

While Johnny Depp did create his own "cyber zombies" that he could control, it was for the greater good! Do you think that this could one day form a problem? These anti- computer humans were under the assumption that he was going to use the program that he embedded himself in for the opposite of good...which is BAD! Dr. Caster was helping the blind see, the crippled to walk, and did not harm one person in doing so. I truly do think in the wrong hand this could be harmful, but the way this movie played out made me think only positive things about such concept.
