‘Hold My Beer’: Kuna Saves Its Christmas Parade In Just Hours
The 'grinch' -- also known as 'the budget' -- almost ruined Christmas in Kuna.
Thanks to a plea by local authorities and a huge helping hand from the community--that grinch or, budget, won't be impacting Christmas in Kuna at all this year.
Because of increased costs (which are happening everywhere, by the way), the City of Kuna was facing a tough decision: find a way to raise some serious money or 'pull the plug' on the Christmas Light Parade.
They posted online that they were falling short on budget because of increased costs--and offered an opportunity for sponsorship. The community basically said 'hold our beer'.
Thousands were raised in just hours.
In a Facebook post of gratitude, the Kuna Chamber of Commerce said:
When traffic control costs caused our event to jump to $4,000+, we asked for help & within 4 hours, this community rallied and raised over $5,000 to keep this event safe and running smoothly. A huge thank-you to everyone who donated, shared, and encouraged. This is what Kuna is all about. We are still currently receiving funds and will update this post with everyone who contributed so nobody is left out. We are hoping to maintain open transparency with all of our events and what we can do as a non-profit entity. We are fortunate for our amazing members and City partners that we work with all year round to host events like Kuna Days, Trunk or Treat and the Night Light Parade.
Talk about a great success!
We think that it's pretty awesome that in a time of need for the community--so many stepped up to help. That said, we also love that for many, this may be their first real interaction with the local chamber of commerce and perhaps, moving forward, the community will be able to make even bigger things happen! It's great to see the Chamber in Kuna doing big, engaging and community-forward things!
