Let’s Talk About That Torch Billboard
I knew as soon as I saw it, there would be issues. I’m talking about the Billboard that has gone viral of a scantily clad woman wearing lingerie advertising for the Torch Gentlemen’s Club. The image on the board wasn’t dirty, it didn’t show any nudity, but this is clean, safe, family friendly Boise, and I knew as soon as I saw it, that it would be taken down within a week.
In today’s world climate, it only take a few people to complain, or be “offended” for something to change. So, I posted a picture of the Billboard on my Facebook page to get some honest reactions.
When I drove by the Billboard Wednesday October 24th, it had been taken down.
The billboard for the bikini bar at 1826 W. State St. upset a number of people driving past. Eight people complained to Canyon Outdoor Media, which installed the sign. By Wednesday morning, the billboard was bare.
My Opinion:
As a father of a three-year-old little girl and Husband, I can’t agree with selling sex, or the imagery of sexualizing woman in public but I don’t think this specific advertisement was done in poor taste. Do I want my daughter to see it and think that’s how women should be presented, NO. Will she see the same kind of imagery in public say at the Victoria Secret at the mall, most definitely.
