Last week, I got to be a part of something pretty special and Make-A-Wish of Idaho was able to accomplish some really impressive work!

On Wednesday, March 6th, Make-A-Wish of Idaho held their annual Wishes In Flight telethon on channel 2 news.  I had become familiar with the team over at our local Make-A-Wish office after working with them at an annual fundraising event called Music On The Water last summer. Their team was so great I had to stay in touch and I was lucky enough to be allowed to answer phones for a couple of hours with my colleague Kevin Miller, of KIDO Talk Radio.

With a goal of 2 million air miles, Kevin Miller and I were a part of watching these numbers go from about 300 to 500 thousand.  So many wishes that the organization is tasked with making possible require travel--specifically flight. The goal was huge, but certainly a need! By the end of their efforts, 1,916,000 miles were donated by individuals all across the State of Idaho who saw how impactful these miles can be.

According to Helene Peterson, Special Event & Development Manager at Make-A-Wish Idaho, these miles will allow for 39 wish kids to travel for their wish! That is an unreal accomplishment that couldn't have been done without the help of so many generous community members.

If you're interested in donating air miles because you didn't hear about the telethon as it was going on--they're always accepted!  Just reach out to the Make-A-Wish of Idaho office at (208) 345-9474
