Man Who Killed Three Mountain Home Girls Admits to Heavy Drinking
This is the man who hit and killed three precious little girls from Mountain Home on Saturday. He admits to drinking heavily before the crash and his blood alcohol content was more than twice the legal limit.
46-year-old Matthew David Park says he drank more than a dozen beers between noon on Friday and 1:30 a.m. on Saturday. Park also admits to having visited several bars that fateful night, in fact, he was driving home from the bar when the accident happened.
It's pretty well known that the legal limit in Idaho is .08. Park blew three breathalyzers of .145, .191, and .189 according to an article on KTVB that details the crash.
Park is now behind bars at the Blaine County Jail. He's facing three counts of vehicular manslaughter and two charges of aggravated DUI. He was not injured in the crash and says he did not see the Dodge Neon the girls were in until right before the impact.
Vehicular manslaughter has him facing 10 years in prison while the aggravated DUI charge carries a 15-year sentence. He will face 10 separate years for each girl who was killed, for a total of 75 years. His bond has been set at $400,000.
Matthew Park does have a bit of criminal history. He received a DUI in Park City, Utah back in 2014. He has lived in the Fairfield area for 25 years and has worked as a carpenter.
The crash will continue to be investigated by the Blaine County Sheriff's Office and the Idaho State Police.
