Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Whether you believe $7.25 an hour is an appropriate minimum wage or not is entirely up to you. There's not necessarily a "right" or "wrong" answer, only our thoughts and input. That's when it comes to humans, and our emotions, at least.

Math, however, is finite. Math doesn't lie. And the math says you won't be able to get dinner tonight if you're making minimum wage in Boise in 2023. Before you get angry and start yelling at your screen, let's actually do the math together and see if we can find some common ground, shall we?

Let's get right to it. The average cost of living in Boise is right around $1,050 per month, and that's not including rent. To put it simply, if you're working 40 hours per week, and being paid the minimum wage of $7.25 per hour, you're bringing home $1,160 every month before tax. That leaves you with $100 extra per month of wiggle money...and again...this DOESN'T EVEN INCLUDE YOUR RENT OR MORTGAGE PAYMENT.

We understand these are trying times, and many of us are facing uphill battles in 2023. So many people are angry, upset, and lashing out at every news story to hit the internet, and we have a sinking feeling it's because so many of us are going through financial hardships.

Are you currently making minimum wage in Boise and somehow getting your bills paid? We'd absolutely love to know how you're doing it, and who knows, maybe you'll even inspire others in the process!
