Shocking news broke late Monday afternoon as an arrest made in Boise sounded like something to come out of a major city. Unfortunately, no matter how great or safe the Treasure Valley is, we're not immune to these kinds of crimes but we are indeed thankful for local authorities that investigate and shut them down.

An 18-year-old man, Owen Alexander Sawyer, was arrested for lewd conduct and sexually exploitive material and appears to have been reaching folks through a popular social media platform.

The Ada County Sheriff's Office released a statement on the arrest:

On January 26, 2026, at approximately 7:00 a.m., Ada County Sheriff’s Office detectives, along with members of our Ada County SWAT team, served an arrest warrant in the area of S. Redeken Pl. and E. Tiger Lily Dr. in Boise. Deputies arrested 18-year-old Owen Alexander Sawyer for two counts of {F} Lewd Conduct with a Child Under 16 and one count of {F} Child Sexually Exploitive Material and booked into the Ada County Jail. Owen Sawyer is also known to go by the alias Owen Suchicital.  Detectives have reason to believe Sawyer found his victims using Snapchat under the username “iloveidaho.” Based on current information, investigators believe Sawyer may have additional victims.

While the community is thankful for the arrest, a wide reaching investigation continues.

If the efforts to get word to the public is any indicator, it seems that police have reason to believe that there could be more victims in our community.

If you or anyone you know has any further information on this case or if you or someone you know is a victim, authorities are asking that you contact non-emergency dispatch at 208-377-6790.
