Funeral For Nampa Mayor Planned for Idaho Center Next Week
In what has turned into a total tragedy for the City of Nampa and the entire Treasure Valley as a whole, Nampa has been left without their newly elected Mayor.
47-year-old Rick Hogaboam was elected as Mayor of Nampa in November of 2025 and officially sworn into office just months ago, in January.
A tragic incident during a local leadership meeting led to the unexpected death of Hogaboam--just two months into his 4-year term.
Now, city officials are sharing information surrounding the funeral service for the mayor.
The memorial service honoring the late Mayor Rick Hogaboam will be held on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at 5 p.m. at the Ford Idaho Center. Doors will open at 4 p.m. The general public and media are invited to attend and are asked to park in the west parking lot, nearest to the Idaho Center Boulevard, and use “Entry 1”. Family members, close friends, colleagues and dignitaries are asked to enter from Franklin Boulevard, park in the south parking lot, and use “Entry 5”. There will be a security screening, and weapons will not be allowed. Guests are encouraged to limit personal items to expedite security screening time.
Expect heavier than normal traffic at this time on Tuesday, near the Ford Idaho Center.
While the city mourns and processes the loss, and looming question of 'what happens next' is being answered now, as Nampa City Council has provided next steps, and insight into Idaho law.
Idaho Code states that it is up to City Council to appoint the next Mayor.
The timing of all of this is unique--as whoever the City of Nampa appoints to be its next Mayor, will serve, essentially, a full term.
Residents elected Hogaboam for that four-year term and not being able to have a say over the next 3 years and 9 months may be frustrating to some.
