Is it just us, or are the roads here in the Treasure Valley getting more and more hectic?

Many blame the 'transplants' from other states--others say we're just getting too big. No matter what your belief on the matter is, a recent video released by the Nampa Police Department is serving as a stark reminder that everyone needs to pay attention on the roads.

These days with phones, smart watches, gadgets and all of the things we have going on it's easy to be a 'distracted driver' but that should never be an option.

Here's a look at what took place in Nampa on 16th & 2nd

Well--talk about a close call!

While this driver that ran the red clearly was not paying attention--folks are cheering over the fact that all of the other drivers seemed to very much be paying attention.

What could have been a 3 to 4 car pile up ended up being just a 'close call'.

Ironically enough, a Nampa Police patrol car was one of the vehicles that nearly missed the wreck and yes, they did pull the driver over.

In a statement released by the department, we learned that the driver was a teenager.

This distracted teen driver - and everyone at this intersection, including the Nampa Police Officer - were very lucky. Parents - Please help us share this important Back-to-School reminder to all of the teen drivers you love. Talk to them about their friends in the car, their phones, and all of the other things that lend to distracted driving.
Stay safe out there, everyone!

Just last summer, another 'red light incident' was captured on camera--this time, by a local driver via dash cam. The video served as quite the stark reminder that not all incidents are 'close calls' like the one in Nampa. Some end in a crash.
