Online Petition Blows Up Over ‘Embarrassing’ Boise Flag Designs

The internet has been ruthless for nearly a full week now, as the City of Boise unveiled finalists for the all-new City of Boise flag.

An unexpected turn? People hate them. All of them. So much so, that there is now a very popular petition to put a hold on the whole project.

What are your thoughts on this 'gong show' of a flag debate. Should Boise just leave the flag be?

Sure--there is absolutely nothing special about the City of Boise's current flag. The State Capitol building is on it--which isn't even run by the City of Boise--but you get the point--it's one of our most iconic sights in town. The blue is classic, the font is professional, it just looks clean and 'seasoned'.

These new designs? Not so much.

We do NOT mean to come across as negative and we certainly don't want to be too harsh on our local artists because we know there's amazing talent all over our area.

These potential flags just aren't getting it done--perhaps we approach the flag situation in a classic way: 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'.

A petition launched locally has over 2,700 responses (at time of publishing this) asking the City of Boise to just keep the current flag.  That's less than 500 shy (in under a week) of the City of Boise's 3,000 survey respondents early in the flag re-design phase.
